Slow Cooker Cranberry Sauce

The easiest cranberry sauce on the table — fresh cranberries simmered low and slow with orange and lemon zest, sweetened simply with maple syrup. Set it and forget it while the rest of the meal comes together.

Ingredients
  

  • 4 cups fresh or frozen cranberries
  • Zest of 1 orange
  • Zest of 1 lemon
  • ¾ cup fresh orange/lemon juice (mostly orange)
  • 2–4 tablespoons maple syrup, to taste
  • 1 cinnamon stick, optional

Equipment

  • Slow cooker
  • Citrus zester
  • Citrus juicer
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Wooden spoon or silicone spatula

Method
 

  1. Combine all ingredients in a slow cooker and toss to combine. Cook on low for 1 hour, then mash with a wooden spoon or spatula to break up the cranberries. Sauce will thicken further as it cools.
