For thousands of years -long before gyms and dance studios- people gathered outdoors to dance together. They danced in times of joy, and they danced when in need of healing. Their movements were in relationship with the geography and natural environment around them, and one another as a community; whether shuffling through sand, balancing gingerly on rough terrain, or being filled with the inspiration of towering mountains and rushing creeks.  Let’s continue this tradition and dance together in the trees and the breeze, appreciating our need to connect with one another and the elements of nature.

This weekly class celebrates traditional dances from Morocco, Egypt, the Arabian Peninsula, Iraq, Turkey, the Balkans, Iran, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, India, and beyond. Tap into the ancient human legacy of dance, nourishing your spirit and gaining a deeper appreciation and understanding of cultures far and near.
